Sherry Head is the Principal at Southwest Preparatory School, Northeast Campus. She is a strong educational leader with a passion for children and a proven work ethic. Five of her sixteen years in education have been in educational leadership positions at new charter schools and her experience has provided a foundation to support all grade levels and educational programs. She has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Ms. Head was the founding Superintendent and Principal of City Center Health Careers, San Antonio, Texas where she developed a program to increase graduation rates while instituting the notion of educating the whole child with a focus on health careers. Sherry has served as Vice Principal at the Brooks Academy of Science & Engineering, San Antonio, Texas, and has High School Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Natalia ISD, Natalia, Texas.
Her philosophy has earned the respect of students, parents, peers, administrators and school board members, as well as, the communities that she has had the privilege to serve. She believes the principal should be the hardest working individual for the school, be energetic, enthusiastic, inspiring, motivating, and above all, have the passion to ensure educational needs and growth of all students.
Sherry states, “A child does not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Engaging the student first, in this manner, facilitates the pathway to educate them and sets the expectation for students to reach their full potential.”
