Mr. Randy M. Smith is President/CEO and Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) Live Oak, Texas, one of the largest financial cooperatives in the United States.

RBFCU serves over 335,000 members concentrated in the San Antonio-Austin, Texas corridor. For many years, RBFCU has been awarded top ratings by financial rating organizations. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has selected RBFCU as the “Credit Union of the Year.”  Two of RBFCU’s volunteers have received NAFCU’s “Volunteer of the Year” award. RBFCU has been recognized by its federal regulator, the National Credit Union Administration, for service to smaller credit unions and by the United States Air Force for service to military members.  The credit union was recently recognized for its significant outreach in financial literacy which impacts thousands of students each year. The San Antonio Business Journal just named the credit union as one of San Antonio’s Fast-Track Companies.

Mr. Smith assumed his present position with RBFCU in July 1987, having served as Vice President of Finance the preceding five years.

Smith is a Certified Public Accountant with a master’s degree in business administration. During his 27-year career in the United States Air Force (active duty and reserve), he was involved with development and implementation of accounting systems, funds management, budgeting, and information technology. As a CPA with the international accounting firm of Arthur Young (now Ernst and Young), he received additional experience in personal financial planning, tax planning and auditing.

Mr. Smith has served on various committees of state and national credit union organizations including NAFCU, Credit Union National Association, Credit Union Executives Society, and the Defense Credit Union Council. He served as the Treasurer of the PULSE EFT Association, Houston, TX, from 1993 to 2004. He is a member of the Board of Directors of CUNA Mutual Group, Madison, WI and a Board Member of NAFCU, Arlington, VA.

In the community, Smith is involved in the Credit Unions for Kids fund-raiser (Children’s Miracle Network) for children’s hospitals in San Antonio and Austin. He is an active supporter of the Brooks City Base’s Challenger Learning Center, which inspires middle school students to pursue careers in math and science. He served as Chairman of the Design Committee for the new Northeast Lakeview College in Bexar County, TX; and was a member of the Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee for the Alamo Community College District (ACCD). He was appointed to the Board of Trustees, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas in 2007. In 2008, he was selected to serve on the Alamo Colleges Foundation Board of Directors where he serves as chair of the Development and Investments Committee.

A native of West Virginia, Smith is married to the former Iris Elaine Bryant.
