Jackie Van De Walle is a third-generation native San Antonian whose family was involved in farming and ranching.
She was the first female President of the South Texas Farm and Ranch Club.
She is a past 4-H member and received the highest honor for a former member, the 4-H Alumni Award.
She is an Assistant Vice President of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo overseeing Western Art and Public Affairs Committees and the Speaker’s Committee; a member of the SALE Leadership Team; a member of the Board of Directors; a member of Cowboy Church Committee; past Chairman of the Ambassadors Committee for 22 years; a member of the Auction Committee and Buyer; past member of Souvenir Committee as well as numerous other committees.
Jackie has served as an Advisory Board Member for the Texas Department of Agriculture District 6 which covers 31 counties, including Bexar County.
She is a graduate of the Texas AgriFood Masters program which is through the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service, which is dedicated to the expansion of agrifood education to urban and rural areas.
Jackie currently serves on a Leadership Advisory Member to the Bexar County Cooperative Extension Service.
Jackie also currently serves as one of seven (7) members of the state-wide Texas Urban Advisory Board who represent the largest urban counties (which cover 50%+ of the total state population) for Texas A&M University System and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
Jackie Van De Walle was awarded the 1998 National Society of Fund Raising Executives “Outstanding Volunteer Fund Raiser”.
She was inducted into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame in 1988 in the Category of: Ranching and Agriculture.
She is currently (and has been for the last 12 years) the Chairman of the Board of the Alamo Community College District Foundation, Inc. which raises monies for scholarships for the 75,000 (full and part-time) plus students of the ACCD.
Jackie currently is an Advisory Board Member of the Bexar County Equine-Assisted Therapy Center, Inc. at the Cindy Taylor Krier Detention Center. This 501(c) (3) non-profit will educate teens while incarcerated with a high school curriculum and provide an opportunity to attain an Associates Degree in Equine Science.
She in an Alumni and immediate-past Trustee on the Board of Trustees of Our Lady of the Lake University having served for the past 9 years, the maximum length of time.
She is former President of Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant, Inc. and was State Coordinator for Miss Rodeo Louisiana.
She has worked in many areas of the San Antonio Greater Chamber and other civic organizations throughout the community.
She was the spokesperson for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in the campaign with the San Antonio Spurs for the new SBC Arena; the campaign called “Saddles and Spurs”. The name of this arena has changed to the AT&T Center on January 12, 2006.
She also recently was a Community Spokesperson for the Extension of the Visitor Tax for $415 Million Dollars for improvements to San Antonio River Walk, Amateur Sports Facilities, Performing Arts and improvements to the Rodeo Grounds, Freeman Coliseum and future AT&T Center upgrades, passed by voters May 10, 2008.
Jackie served on the Citizens Bond Committee for the Alamo Community College District Citizen’s Bond Committee who examined the Capital Improvement Projects for the District campuses across the community due to the rapid growth and enrollment at ACCD. This $450 million bond was approved by Bexar County voters in November, 2005. Construction projects are underway and some have been completed.
March 23, 2007, Jackie received the COMMUNITY AWARD at the Outstanding Women of Action Gala Awards ceremony.

Personal Info:
She was married to John Thomas Haas until his death in 1977 as a result of an accidental electrocution when their only child, a son, Jason Todd Haas, was five months of age. She remarried and is married to Robert Paul Dreher.
Jackie’s one son, Jason Todd Haas, married Andrea Lyons Haas. Jackie is now the proud grandmother of her 4-year old grandson, Jacob Taylor Haas.
