As an International Bank of Commerce (IBC Bank) senior vice president, Eddie Aldrete monitors local, state and federal policies that directly impact the bank and the financial services industry. His expertise in political and governmental issues helps IBC Bank and its parent International Bancshares Corporation (IBC) maintain its ongoing commitment to its customers and the communities the bank serves. Aldrete has more than 30 years of experience in strategic communications, media relations and political, governmental and public affairs, and he leads advocacy efforts corporate-wide.

Aldrete works as a proponent for economic growth and infrastructure development in the communities IBC serves. For his advocacy of these issues and his ability to effectively communicate them at the local, state and federal levels,  Campaigns & Elections Magazine named Aldrete one of the Top 100 most influential figures in Texas politics and government (August 2010).

Actively involved in the San Antonio community, Aldrete has given much of his time to the community through his service on the boards of ACCION Texas, San Antonio Symphony, San Antonio Public Library Foundation, Free Trade Alliance and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber.  Previously, he served on an advisory board of the College Ready Agenda in Texas for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  Additionally, he has served on task forces considering a Library District, Performing Arts Center and most recently was appointed by Mayor Julian Castro to the Steering Committee of SA 2020.

Aldrete serves on the Immigration & Accreditation Committees of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and on the boards of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Texas Employers for Immigration Reform and the Texas Border Coalition.

He has been named Corporate Executive of the Year by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber in 2009, honored for his outstanding service in immigration reform by the Austin-based American Gateways in 2007, Board Member of the Year by the Free Trade Alliance in 2006, and was named Outstanding Alumnus by Texas Tech University’s College of Mass Communications in 2003.

Aldrete has been married to Cristina Lopez Aldrete since 1993, and they have three children, Cristian (12), Diego (10) and Andrea (7).

    All I can say to this is “WOW” — I wasn’t at all surprised to run across this article. Congratulations on ALL your accomplishments –Keep up your good work and I hope someday to see you and Cristina on TV as you lead out the first dance at the Governor’s Ball (or The President’s Inaugural Ball).
