Dr. Tessa Martinez Pollack is the seventh president and the first Hispanic to hold the presidency of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Pollack, whose experience includes leading multi-campus, multi-college, and multi-cultural institutions, leads the university’s main campus in San Antonio, Texas and satellite sites in Houston and the Texas Rio Grande Valley.  The university, a Catholic comprehensive institution, is recognized nationally for preparing predominately Hispanic, first-generation students for leadership and service through undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Professional Studies, the School of Business and Leadership, and the Worden School of Social Service.

Nationally, Dr. Pollack has served on numerous boards including the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), the American Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAPICU), and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).  She also served as president of the Higher Education Council of San Antonio and on the Boards of Humanities Texas, the Alamo Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the San Antonio World Affairs Council, and the Bexar County Arts & Cultural Fund. She is a founding Board Member of the San Antonio Westside Development Corporation, an economic development agency of the City of San Antonio, Texas.

She has received numerous state and local awards for her accomplishments in the education of Hispanics.  Hispanic Business Magazine named her among the nation’s Outstanding Women Leaders (2005) and one of the “100 influentials” in America (2003).  In 2005, she received the 2005 Latina Excellence Award in Education from Hispanic Magazine.
