Dr. Gurvinder Pal (G.P.) Singh, founder of Karta Technologies, Inc., is an innovator and an entrepreneur. He grew this business from one-man, garage operation to over 400 professionals – creating the largest San Antonio-based defense contractor for professional services.

Karta was acquired by NCI Information Systems, Inc (Nasdaq: NCIT) while G.P. was the majority shareholder in June of 2007; he continued to serve on the Board of Directors of NCI Information Systems (Nasdaq: NCIT) from 2007 to 2010.

G.P. holds both a Master’s and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics from Drexel University. He worked at Southwest Research Institute as a Senior Research Engineer and later joined joined the engineering faculty at UTSA. In 1986 he formed Karta Technologies, Inc.

G.P. has published over 50 technical papers and numerous reports related to nondestructive evaluation, power plant maintenance and operations, artificial intelligence and computer based learning. In addition, Dr. Singh was granted six US patents for his inventions.

In 2001, Karta was named one of the Top 25 8(a) Information Technology Companies by Washington Technology. Also in 2001, Karta received the Pinnacle Award for Technology from the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for outstanding achievement in information technology. In 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2002 the San Antonio Business Journal recognized Karta as one of the city’s fifty fastest growing companies. In 1999, Ernst and Young nominated Dr. Singh for Entrepreneur of the Year, and Karta was awarded the Technology Excellence Award by the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for demonstrated excellence through superior implementation of innovative approaches in the use of technology.
