Dr. Perugini is a graduate of LaSalle University, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He is a diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

His military career began at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.  He served numerous clinical and executive medicine assignments in Europe, Asia, Central America and the United States, culminating with command of Brooke Army Medical Center, Great Plains Regional Medical Command, the US Army Medical Department Center and School and Fort Sam Houston.

Dr. Perugini has held appointments as associate professor of family medicine and executive vice president of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, assistant professor of family practice at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. He has also served as a member of the Texas Health Care Policy Council, the Preparedness Coordinating Council and the Academic Senior Advisory Forum on Public Health Preparedness of the Texas Department of State Health Services, the board of directors of the Southern Regional AHEC, the CARE Clinic of Fayetteville, North Carolina and the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American College of Physician Executives and the American Osteopathic Association, the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and Association of the United States Army, Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the 38th Parallel Medical Society and an honorary member of the Korean Medical Association.

Dr. Perugini’s awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Physician Recognition Award and “A” Proficiency Designator of the U.S. Army Surgeon General, the Order of Military Medical Merit, the Order of National Security Merit Samil Medal, Republic of Korea, and Founders’ Medal of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
